Attention!

 

Break out the champagne again!  CAT CIAO (director's cut) wraps!  This is a shorter (2:30) and much more graphic and demented version of CAT CIAO made just for Spike & Mike's Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation.  It will be part of their upcoming DVD as well as their new theatrical world tour lineup.  Stay tuned for more info on this exciting news!

Attention!

 

Break out the champagne!  Cat Ciao is finally available on DVD for purchase.  Cat Ciao is part of the illustrious lineup of great CG shorts in a nicely packaged DVD from the same producer of "Mind's Eye" and "Beyond Mind's Eye" called COMPUTER ANIMATION JOURNEYS.  Here is the lineup many of which I'm sure you have seen before:

Cat ciao makes an encore screening at the San Diego Film Foundation's premiere showcase of local filmmakers in a program they called, "A CELEBRATION OF SHORTS."  It will be projected from the newly mastered DVD.  Come and support Spaz the Cat!

Thursday 2/27/03 at 6:30 p.m. at the Jack Dodge Center in Downtown Gaslamp San Diego.

It's OFFICIAL! Cat Ciao is scheduled to air on Tech TV's premiere animation show "Eye Drops" on April 5, 2002. According to their website, here are the following air times:

- Fridays at 10:30am, 3:00pm, 9:30pm (ET)
- Saturday
12:30am, 5:30pm, & 10 pm, (ET)
* note, these are Eastern Standard Times

Note: Tech TV is a national cable channel that most likely requires a higher service than the basic cable package. Check your local listings for the exact channel number in your area. If you're lucky enough to live in San Diego, here are the cable channel numbers for Tech TV:

  • Cox Digital Cable: channel 327

Cat Ciao scheduled for national cable TV appearance on TechTV's premiere show of "Eye Drops" on March 17, 2002. Check your local listings for exact time or stay tuned when I find out myself.

Let's hope this show will be the beginning of a great forum for indie cgi filmmakers from now on.

11.01.2001 Cat Ciao wins 1st Place Award in DV Contest's Comedy Category. This contest features digital works by independent filmmakers in categories that also include drama, sci-fi, horror, children, adult, action, and documentary. We'll see if this leads to six-figure deals for Spaz ;)
08.15.2001 Spaz and myself made an impromptu appearance at this year's Siggraph2001 in Los Angeles for an interview on the making of CatCiao. Turns out Cat Ciao has been invited to be part of the upcoming premiere episode of Dash's Animation House program on TechTV, a nationally-televised cable show. Spaz will be in good company along with some really great shorts that you'll just have to tune in to find out.

Look for it Fall 2001, end of September they tell me. Stay tuned!

Selected to be shown at The California SUN International Animation Festival, March 23-24-31, 2001, in the Computer Animation category.  The venue will be California State University, Northridge, (map) Campus Theatre on March 24, and on March 31, at Ventura College, Science Lecture Theater 222.  Go check it out!

12.29.2000 Currently streaming on HotPopTV.com as part of the first ever Asian American Internet Film Festival.  Spaz wants you to go there and vote for this film!!  This contest runs til February 2001 and the winner will become the "King of the World.".  Spaz sez Thanx!
12.25.2000 Merry Xmas!  Santa brought Spaz a wonderful gift this Christmas.  He must've been a good kitty this year.  Well, not really but "Cat Ciao" surpassed the 60,000-Viewed milestone on iFILM.com today!  That's more viewers than the number of people who saw the latest Adam Sandler's flick!  Thanx y'all for all y'all support! 
12.02.2000 Televised on national TV on the Discovery Channel in a program called Tivo Takes as the "iFILM of the Week."  This is "Cat Ciao's" television debut.  Let's hope it shows up next on "Must See TV" or something.

Cat Ciao becomes #1 "Most Viewed Animation (of the week)" on iFILM.

Also breaks into iFILM's "Top 20 Rated Animation of All-Time List" at #16.

After a slow start, Cat Ciao becomes #2 "Most Viewed Film of Any Category (of the week)" on iFILM and featured on their frontpage as an "iFILM Favorite."

10.14.2000

Cat Ciao makes its CyberSpace debut on iFILM, streamable in Realplayer, Windows Media 100k & 300k, and QuickTime 300k formats.

08.24.2000 Cat Ciao, the final "Director's Cut" version is finished and submitted to iFILM.  This version contains more robust soundFX as well as a few added shots.  This is the last of many "Director's Cut" versions.
08.12.2000 Cat Ciao debuts in my hometown of San Diego at the first annual San Diego Asian Film Festival as part of the "Moo Shoo Madness" program.
07.23.2000 Cat Ciao's first "completed" version debuts at Siggraph2000 Conference in New Orleans as part of the weeklong Animation Theaters "Digital Dementia" Program
05.21.2000 An early version of Cat Ciao makes its North American debut at the Los Angeles Visual Communications FilmFest 2000 May 18-25, 2000. 
09.1999 Production of Cat Ciao officially begins at Stanford University with the modeling of the BabyDactyl character.  Not coincidentally, my caffeine addiction begins hereon.

In the middle of a Maya tutorial class at the annual 3D Conference & Expo, the first Cat Ciao thumbnail images were doodled onto my sketchbook.  This was ground zero for the birth of Cat Ciao
